Need pro advice on solution rotating punch pin component

Need pro advice on solution rotating punch pin component

(OP)
Hello,
Although I've been reading and gleaning the from the forum for a while, this is my first post.

I'm trying to automate a process which is manually completed now. The concept is simple enough, but I need some professional input on how to accomplish it with the least amount of components.

Here is the component:
We need to rotate a 0.75 in cylinder 1/4 turn for each 1.000 in pull of a lever. Upon completing the 1.4 turn the cylinder needs to drive forward by .750 in under spring pressure. Essentially we are trying to translate the linear action of the lever (with 1" of travel) into both a rotation of the punch pin cylinder AND the rearward movement of the cylinder to load it against a spring.

I've drawn up a rough, and incomplete, diagram of what is in my head. My hope is to accomplish this by using an axial-type cam/groove around the cylinder that will both rotating and move it rearward against a drive spring.

ANY input is greatly appreciated !

I'm open to adding an addition 1 or 2 'guide' bearing or cam followers to make this work properly as well as considering any other type of actuation for this component.
