Guys,
Need some help in programming 2D contour/profile with wave effect in Z azis. I have only 2mm gap between bottom of part and top of fixture, want to move cutter in z axis constantly up and down to give a ramping/wave effect. Apreciate your ideas and suggestions. using NX5.0
Thanks in advance.

RE: Wave effect in 2D machining.

You will need something for the bottom of the tool to follow.
You can use Profile_3D or fixed contour operation to cut along the wavy surface while following the 2-D boundary. Either way you will need to model something to defile the Z wave effect.

Offset a guide curve, and apply a sine wave (law curve) to its path...

To the Toolmaker, your nice little cartoon drawing of your glass looks cool, but your solid model sucks. Do you want me to fix it, or are you going to take all week to get it back to me so I can get some work done?
