simulating impact on composites

simulating impact on composites

(OP)
hi all,

I Need to simulate an Impact on a Composite material and i really cant figure out below listed Points. It'll be awesome if some can give me tipps to solve These Problems:
1- where can i enter the Energy release rate of the resin. (I mean GIC and GIIC) should i define a cohesive element and enter it some where or i can define it in cohesive cennection?
2- i have the Impact energy (e.g. 20 J). is there any Chance to enter the energy or i have to convert it to velocity and define it as velocity in boundry condition?
3- if i define velocity in BC then it is going to stay constanct during the whole Impact but what i Need is that abaqus uses the (GIc and GIIc) energy from the cohesive and bring it to Zero some how!!

Please every one i really Need helppppppppppp.

P.S.: could anyone tell me how to make an orphan mesh like the DCB-example (dcb_cohelm_2d) in abaqus Manual, where the orphan mesh has a cohesive wire element in the middle and two mesh element on top and bottom. I know how to make orphan mesh from Create mesh part in mesh, but i cant create the line element in the middle.

Thanks in advanced peace
