How to apply uniform pressure on inner wall of a cylinder?

How to apply uniform pressure on inner wall of a cylinder?

(OP)
I have a hollow cylindrical object. I want to apply a pressure acting on the inner cylinder wall, which is circle in geometry of course. Then I would like to view the expansion of the cylinder object, due to the pressure acting on it. Please refer to the link, under the post of flash3780. The gif is what I want to achieve in my simulation.

The pressure on each point of the inner cylinder wall should be the same. Please refer to the attachment for a better understanding of the direction of pressure.

The file name "Capture" has shown the point where the pressure is acting on it. The file name "Ansys Pressure Load" shown the deformation due to the pressure. The other file shown you exactly the pressure I want to apply on the cylinder.

So far, I use the pressure command, but the command only pointing to ONE point, instead of all the direction.

Please help me if you don't mind to spare a few minutes of your precious time. Thanks.

RE: How to apply uniform pressure on inner wall of a cylinder?

Steve,
As I recommended in the previous post, I'd recommend you consider symmetry in your problem.

It's not clear to me what your having trouble with from your description above. It seems like you want to expand your stent with a balloon-like device which is represented by a cylinder and is inflated.

It seems as though a pressure load is what you're after. It looks like you're trying to apply a directional pressure load; perhaps you should try applying a pressure load normal to the surface. That option is in the bottom-left menu on the screen.

I apologize if you were trying to do something different; I wasn't able to open your link to the other website without logging in. Hope that helps though.

Hi SteveFinnan,

Not sure if your aware of it or not but the stent that you referenced in the gif was expanded using a rigid cylinder and a displacement load as opposed to a flexible balloon and a pressure load.

If you have access to ABAQUS, you can download the input file for that analysis from their website as its one of their benchmark problems.

Good luck,
