Hello. Where to start?!?!?

Hello. Where to start?!?!?

Hello. Where to start?!?!?

(OP)
Here's the deal. I am eventually planning on going back to school for electronic engineering. Eventually. But for now I want to get started learning on my own but don't no where to start. I'm thinking maybe I would start with some kind of book? Im not sure which book to get though. Also,... I built this really cool desk that's lit up with a lot of LED's. I want to get my feet wet using this desk as my project. I want to do some circuitry where the desk does some really cool lighting effects. I really want the desk to flash with music along with some other cool modes of lighting. I really want to start with this desk. Can anyone recommend a book for beginners? List some favorites educational sites? Thanks in advance:)

RE: Hello. Where to start?!?!?

allaboutcircuits.com (Their ebooks (textbook volumes) cover the basics fairly well and it has a great forum for help when you need it)
arduino.cc (cause you will need a microcontroller at some point and its a great starter)
google.com (who needs books anymore)

but if you do...
