13480-4 PWHT for Piping Material Group 5.1 (f.e. 13CrMo4-5)

13480-4 PWHT for Piping Material Group 5.1 (f.e. 13CrMo4-5)

Dear all,
is it right that according 13480-4 (Metallic Industrial Piping/ Fabrication) Materials of Group 5.1 (f.e. 13CrMo4-5) do not need any PWHT (d<114,3 w<7,1 Preheat Temp. 200°C)?
We have a lot of experience with the German AD 2000- Rules; in the AD the PWHT is not a function of diameter and wall thickness. So we had to do PWHT with 13CrMo4-5 anyway.
Has anyone experience with this Topic (13480-4- 13CrMo4-5PWHT) ? In my opinion we can safe a lot of money but (as so often) I´m not really sure...

Thank you in advance for any answer.

Best regards
Tim

RE: 13480-4 PWHT for Piping Material Group 5.1 (f.e. 13CrMo4-5)

No experience, but after some reading .... to my understanding materials in 5.1 need PWHT depending on controlling thickness, see table 9.14.1-1.
Nevertheless keep in mind a design Code specifies the minimum requirements. If it doesn't require you to do PWHT, doesn't mean PWHT would be beneficial (see e.g. EN 13480-4, issue 2 2013-08, 9.14.1 3rd indent).
Could you provide more details regarding service conditions and controlling thickness(es)?

Thank you for you quick reply. That is exactly what I mean: In our case we have a piping with a Diameter <114,3 mm and the Controlling Thickness is w<7,1.
In EN 13480-4 Table 9.14.1-1 (5.1) Footer e tell us that we can renounce PWHT for These condition.
Attached you will find, for better understanding, the Drawing/ Iso of our Piping. Please tell me if you agree or not. Thanks in advance.
