Broken Enrober
Broken Enrober
(OP)
I am fixing an ancient Geier enrobing machine for a friend who has a small chocolate factory in Philadelphia. The riser shaft sheared the pin of its drive gear. Now when the riser shaft is rotated, the shaft lifts up 0.5 cm and clunks back down. Any ideas?

It is a capital mistake to theorise before one has data. Insensibly one begins to twist facts to suit theories, instead of theories to suit facts. (Sherlock Holmes - A Scandal in Bohemia.)

A macro photo of the fracture surface might help.

It is better to have enough ideas for some of them to be wrong, than to be always right by having no ideas at all.
