e-drawing size very large
e-drawing size very large
(OP)
hello - i am just a small user of sw & our dept has no one that can solve a problem we are having w/ e-drawings - we are required to make e-drawings (.erw) & save then to our network server - some of our drawings are in the range of 58,000,000 bytes - too large to save on the server - since no one here is willing to try & solve this problem i am asking for help here - i have read that many configurations in a model or toolbox parts can cause the size to grow 3 sometimes 4x the file size - also is there a way to "purge" the bad data or leftover data from a sw file like in autocad (purging in autocad gets rid of unused data within the file) - any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated - we have a couple of sw "experts"
here that just do not know why this is happening or they do not want to be botherd so they have done nothing - thank you

RE: e-drawing size very large
Deleting Display States can drastically reduce SW model file size, but I don't know if they have an effect on eDrawing file size.

You are indicating a file that is only 58 megs in size. That is not a big file. Or are you talking 58 gigs?

What information can you give about the server and network?

With that said, I think IT department is half baked. The worlds file sizes are a lot larger today and like the people above have said 58MB is a walk in the park of a file in today's standards.

Yes it does. As we are spread out all over the US, mailing those $3.82 thumbdrives back and forth is even slower than the network :)
