Hi I am trying to make a cavity mould using an assembly is it possible. I can do it ok with parts but am not sure how to make the assembly a solid model. Any help wil be gratefully received.

You should be able to use the Join feature.

Open your assembly of parts.  Choose Insert, New Part.  Select a plane to place the part.  Then choose Insert, Features, Join.  Select the parts in your assembly and they should become one part.
