Adaptive Remeshing in LS-DYNA

Adaptive Remeshing in LS-DYNA

(OP)
I am trying to run some axi-symmetrical plasticity simulations and want to add adaptive remeshing in order to prevent the axi-symmetrical elements from turning inside-out during the simulation.  I have flagged my parts for adaptive remeshing under the *PART card, but my problems occur in triggering an adaptive remesh.  Under the *CONTROL_ADAPTIVE card, the adptol value (in degrees) controls the remeshing trigger by checking the out-of-plane angle of the shell element to its original angle.  Here lies my problem.  In an axi-symmetrical simulation, the shell elements do not bend out of plan.  They are constrained from doing so.

Is there some way of trigger adaptive remeshing by checking the aspect ratio of the element or the change in angle between adjacent sides in an element?  If so how?
