Use 2 materials in one part instead of assembling two parts

Use 2 materials in one part instead of assembling two parts

Dear all,

I'm working on an axisymmetric rectangular model that has as region with high Young's modulus and a region with low Young's modulus. I modeled it with two parts (one part the high E modulus, one part the low E modulus) and then assembled them together. However, I was wondering if you could also just have 1 part and define two field where each field will have different material properties (here different E modulus). Is it possible? How do you do it?
I was thinking about sections...but I can't find how to define 2 different sections in 1 part.

Thanks in advance!

RE: Use 2 materials in one part instead of assembling two parts

Simply partition the part in the part module and then assign different properties to each partition.

RE: Use 2 materials in one part instead of assembling two parts

You need to remember you will not be able to define an interface between these materials.

Thank you guys, with your information I got it working :)
