Surface area in BOM

Surface area in BOM

Surface area in BOM

(OP)
Could anyone help me out. I have assembly with parts which actually are surfaces. Is there any way to get part surface areas in BOM in SW drawing? I know that it is possible for solid body, but for me there are just surfaces.

RE: Surface area in BOM

Hi,
It depends on what data you have in the BOM. Theoretically, there may be a blank part (without geometry) in the BOM. Just need him to fill the parameters, for example. name, drawing number, etc.

In BOM these parts appear with Item No., part number and quantity but the problem is that i need column with each parts surface area (parts are only surfaces). The way i tried to do was open part->file-> properties->custom-> property name ''Area'', Value ''Surface area'' and then there is problem. Evaluated value is 0.00. I tried to do this with solid body and it works, but for surfaces doesn't. Am I doing something wrong or there is another way to get parts (which is just surfaces) surface area in BOM.

RE: Surface area in BOM

How did you create the surface? Did you assign thickness and material properties?

I will attach link to file with example what i tried to do. I have imported surface and with reference to that surface i need to build frame parts and calculate frame parts surface areas.
