RF Propogation through solid objects
RF Propogation through solid objects
(OP)
Good Morning,
I have a quest about how an RF Wave behaves, when it encounter a solid objects.
I was under the impression, when an RF wave encounter an obstacle (dry wall, metal, body) That the RF wave will pass through the molecules, in the sense because since the electron are randomly and rapidly moving may be the RF Wave permeate through the solid object.
I was also convinced when i was told that when the RF signal can move as such, because of multiple reflections, the chip set can read them .
How about a case when we have our WiFi/4G , signal when we put the phone in a relatively air free environment with a zip ,and the medium is also polyester. In that case as well we still get calls, and we still get WiFi usage.
Please any suggestion or direction in the right train of thought is needed.
Thanks

Thank you for your responses.
So what i understand is that RF Signals cannot pass through solid objects.
Actually i understand the Nylon Clothes or Jeans we put are are not the same thickness as in metal. I was trying to imagine visually what path the RF Signal takes, in an office environment. Let us say the WiFi Routers / eNodes / Basestation are outside of the office. I have my 4G LTE device, in the pocket of my jeans, that has a metal Zip lock and if i recall correct the Wireless Chipset (WiFi / 4G LTE have diversity and main antenna) but they do not protude out. The antennas are in built and they are covered by a Soft plastic case.
If a signal arrives from the Base Station.
Is it going permeate through my jeans.
I am sorry i might be a bit thick

about light, it think i know what you are talking about higher frequency signals are more susceptible to noise.I do not know i am taking wild swings at this time. Please help
