Using REPLACE COMPONENT in drafting NX 8.5

Using REPLACE COMPONENT in drafting NX 8.5

Using REPLACE COMPONENT in drafting NX 8.5

(OP)
Hi,

Often in drafting after finalizing a 2D drawing (template based) I use to copy the 2D drawing of a part and use it to draw another similar drawing using replace component function.

normaly nx would recognize the part and maintain/update almost all of the dimension.

now it simply regenerate the drawing and don´t update the dimension at all.

is it a bug?

It use to work on previous version!

Thanks

RE: Using REPLACE COMPONENT in drafting NX 8.5

Was the old component used as the base model (then changed where needed) for the new component ?

YES!

For exemple: draw a cube 100x100x100
then create a 2D using a template
add some dimention to the drawing
save it all.

now go to explorer , copy both files and rename them.

open copy file from cube (model) and change dimention to 50x50x50

now open copy 2D file and use replace componente on navigator menu (replace with copy file 50x50x50).

update drawing, and for me all dimention become out of date.

on nx 7.5 and nx 8 drawing would update flawlessly

Thank for the help
