Quantity on part drawing

Quantity on part drawing

Quantity on part drawing

(OP)
Hello,

is it possible to shown the quantity in the Part Drawing?

The problem is our tool shop needs the quantity on the part drawing and not only on the part list.

We have the part list in the top assembly and from there we need the quantity to be write back in the single part so we can show it in the drawing.

Our parts are all unique and will only assembled in one assembly.

What version of NX are you using?

Irrespective of the version you're running, you'll probably have to write some sort of NX Open application.

RE: Quantity on part drawing

You are asking to flow the information in the opposite direction than is normally done. The assembly file gathers the quantity of components that are used in it. If you can extract that number into an expression, then an interpart expression may give you what you want. We looked at something similar but with the item number of the component in the assembly. After discussions with UG development and customization people we concluded that it was not worth the effort to pull the componet ID down to the part level.

Couldn't other traveling documentation cover this? Or is a drawing the only document your shop gets?

We running NX 8

And this is a usual workflow in toolshops, because the drawings of the complete tool will go in different departments or will be manufactured external, and we can´t give everyone a part list.

We use this method (quantitiy on the detail drawing) in all our systems (2D-Software/ 3D-Software Solidworks/Visi) only in NX it doesn`t work.
