Simultaneous design

(OP)
Hi All,

I am looking for guidelines for simultaneous engineering in catia but I have not found anything useful so far. We are mould (mainly special moulds) designers for automotive parts and mould design time is usually between 1-3 weeks. It would be nice to have such a model tree/workflow in which designers can work together without messing up the other products in the assembly.

Do you have any suggestion? Or any guideline what we could read?

Thanks in advance!

RE: Simultaneous design

it sounds like you want something like a secure plm/tdm like SDRC I-deas uses. one person checks-out a product and/or part and only that person can check it back in. the only thing i can suggest is, anything that no one in your group should be changing, change that product/part to read only. if you have multiple designers working on one mould design, unfortunately they'll have to be careful to save only the work they are working on. i cant think of any modern plm (even teamcenter) that does what SDRC I-deas does or what you want. cant say that i am familiar with them all though. good luck with this.
