ni625 solid pipe yield strength ....

ni625 solid pipe yield strength ....

ni625 solid pipe yield strength ....

(OP)
ni625 solid pipe yield strength is normally at 60ksi, if I want to increase it to 65ksi. Is this acceptable for this material. Can i get this 65ksi from stockist or do i need to get it customised for the process.

regards

RE: ni625 solid pipe yield strength ....

You would need to either find material in stock that happened to meet your requirement, or go to a mill.
Since the 60ksi material is the low temp anneal (not full solution) I don't know how much margin there is to offer a higher strength.

What is a "solid" pipe?

I took it to mean seamless.

What are you actually asking: is it to try and get an SMYS increase for design purposes?

SJones:- you are right I am looking to increase the design SMYS limit .

RE: ni625 solid pipe yield strength ....

I see 625 bar above 65ksi yield quite often. It's the result of cold-work with a relatively low temp "stress relief" (e.g. - 1600F). A full solution anneal at higher temps will lower it back down to close to 60ksi yield. Call a mill or distributor and see what they have in stock, I'm sure they will have a heat with yield higher than 65ksi.

RE: ni625 solid pipe yield strength ....

But will the design specification allow the use of actual mechanical properties as opposed to specified minima?

Oh I see. If you need similar corrosion resistance with higher strength (e.g. - double the strength) you could always go with 625+/725.
