ASME SA-705 Type 630 condition H1150 list strengths for forgings up to 8 inches in diameter. Does this mean that vessels larger in diameter are not permitted?

You have confused Applicable Thickness (of the base metal forging) in Table 3 with diameter.

The forging is a solid bar, not a forged shape.

But it will be drilled out. Final heat treatment will be after drilling out.

Typically we would take a solid cylindrical heat-treated forging and then machine the bore and closure. Heat treatment after machining looks like a possible option. Thanks for the idea.
