Can I parse input to python by picking in the viewport?

Can I parse input to python by picking in the viewport?

(OP)
Hello fellow members!
I have searched for an answer in the manual and among colleagues but have not found the answer yet, I hope you can help me!

In my work I now and then sets up a series of very similar models. The geometry changes very little and the names of all instances or reference points etc are always the same.
To speed up the process I would like to create a python script that will help me build up the models a little faster, and in the future a GUI.

Can I somehow interact with the viewport and my script? I wish such that the script, or GUI, ask me about which instance that should be renamed (to be connected to the reference point, get a rigid constrain etc.) and the user can click on the correct instance in the viewport.

Is there any function for this type of user input in Abaqus python, or at least as a function if I'm writing a GUI with FOX / RSG Dialog Builder?

Thanks in advance!
