Strainer plate perforation

Strainer plate perforation

Strainer plate perforation

(OP)
Hello,

In the data sheet for a strainer the specification for perforation is given as " For gas service: 7.2 holes/cm2, 3mm plate thickness."

What exaclty this means? I presume that there is some lack of data in here...

I need to give hole dia and pitch to the strainer manufacturer.
How to calculate the hole dia and pitc with this information?

Thanks in advance.

RE: Strainer plate perforation

For a perforated strainer, you're probably looking at 50% of the area being holes. This gives you a 3mm hole at 6mm spacing centre to centre overlapped 50%to get a zig zag in your holes.

RE: Strainer plate perforation

I wasn't too far out. Nice reference material - will add to my files.
