Malt Silo Foundation

Malt Silo Foundation

Malt Silo Foundation

(OP)
Hi There

I'm checking suitability of existing 280mm thick slab for a 16m high & 4.5m dia Malt silo, supported by 16 legs pinned to the slab. the slab has 664 Mesh top and bottom.

I have calculated the seismic force on silo, and check the bearing strength under EQ loading which is fine. last and most important check is that if the slab has enough reinforcement or not? how can I convert that overturning moment in silo to moment in the slab and then check that the existing mesh is sufficient?

or is there any other simpler way of checking the slab?

appreciate your help and guidacne.
