Inspection, Examination, and Testing of pipes fabrication.......

Inspection, Examination, and Testing of pipes fabrication.......

(OP)
I was reading the standard ASME B31.1-2010 Power Piping,

In this standard are mostly mentioned the testing about welds,Hydro static Testing and pneumatic testing.

I am interested to know if are other testing methods like charpy test that are necessary.

I mean for fabrication production.

Please your experience can help me :)

Best regards.

RE: Inspection, Examination, and Testing of pipes fabrication.......

There are NDE requirements listed, incluting visual testing. Hardness testing of welds or PQRs is not required. Impact testing of PQRs is not required.

Thanks you weldstan.

I understand but should the manufacturer do the charpy test and chemical test to prove the material required for the pipes ?

And where can i find any material to guide me for the specifications of these tests?

Thanks.
Best regards.

RE: Inspection, Examination, and Testing of pipes fabrication.......

Testing required under the materials specifications must be performed by the pipe manufacturer - not the pipe fabricator.
