What does this mean please

(OP)
It is from a P and ID and cant find what it is anywhere. Thanks in advance.

RE: What does this mean please

looks like a badly drawn pipe, or insulation around one.

Independent events are seldomly independent.

RE: What does this mean please

A silencer?

My motto: Learn something new every day

Also: There's usually a good reason why everyone does it that way

RE: What does this mean please

If you expand the drawing a bit to put it into the proper context, it would be helpful. My first thought was an inline static mixer.

RE: What does this mean please

gravitate,
What does the P&ID Legend Sheet say it is?
Your next response might be:
(a). "Yes I found the answer on the Legend Sheet and it means "XXXXXXXXXXX"(Please tell us the answer).
or
(b). We don't have a Legend Sheet!

If you do not have a Legend Sheet then go find the Process Engineer responsible for that Unit and ask him (or her). It may be something he (or she) made-up because they have less experience than you do.

prognosis: Lead or Lag

RE: What does this mean please

id guess personel protection guard around a hot pipe that doesn't need insulation.
