Application of damping results generated from ASTM E756

Application of damping results generated from ASTM E756

(OP)
Hello,

I am looking into charactorising the damping properties of a material.

The intention is to be able to use the results in designing new components and have some idea of the damping properties before the part is made.

I intend to test a bar of the material at several different temperatures following the ASTM E756 test standard.

My question is how are the results applied to real day applications? will the test produce a frequency, temperature, damping ratio graph that I can apply to any part irrspecive of geometry. So that when designing a new part I just need to know the mode frequencies and application temperature look at the graph then I will have the damping ratio to apply for that mode

if you can help I would be very greatful
