Stack Design Software

Stack Design Software

(OP)
Dear all,
I want to buy a software for mechanical/structural design of stack (i.e. stack for fired heater).
Usual codes for design of fired heater stack are :
- API 560
- ASME STS-1
- Indian Code (IS-6533)

Please give your opinion/suggestion for good software.

RE: Stack Design Software

MecaStack is a good program. I think it will cover STS-1 and IS-6533. Not sure about API.

Yes, DAR5052,
I agree with you regarding Mecastack. But few of the limitations we are facing.

i.e. this software doesnt design according to API560
- Also, it assumes stack is mounted/supported on foundation. In case of heater, we do have stack mounted on structure.
- It also calculate anchor chair (base plate & anchor bolt) design considering stack mounted on foundation/ground.
- Seismic code IS-1893 used is quite old i.e. of 1975 where as many revisions took place and right now we have 2005 Edition.
