Dear members,
lately we have observed that after induction hardening of rear axle shafts, tempering and magna flux when on finishing stage the axle shafts are rusty,we try to remove the rust when cleaning the rear axle shafts with diesel and scotch brite but when we clean with scotch brite the rust do goes off but with blackness of induction effect also goes off. how to remove rust from axle shafts without blackness of induction effect...

I assume the rust is due to the magna flux with water. 40 years ago we used to dip the parts after magna flux in a special oil that displace the water on the part surface (I do not recall the name of the oil). The water are heavier than the oil and they are drained from the oil sink using a drainage valve located at the bottom of the sink.

At our facility, the vehicle we use in our mag particle inspection bath is a light oil distillate similar to kerosene, trade name G&G T-30 Oil. This reduces any potential for rust and no labor is necessary for cleaning.

You need to identify the source of the rusting. In induction hardening, one common source is flash rusting during tempering. You can also have rusting of WIP if your plant is in a high humidity environment. And yes, water based mag particle inspection fluid is a potential source.
