NX Drawing numbers assigned
NX Drawing numbers assigned
(OP)
I looking into possibly using NX to assign drawing numbers to our components. Our current drawing number system is display in a way which makes finding components easy. Example of a current number would be 25D1049CM. 25D- stand so the drawing size(D sized sheet). The next 4 digits 1049- stands for a component in our system(Example sole plate). The final two alpha digits is the the numerical portion of our numbering system. This would start at AA and progress AB,AC,AD....BA,BB,BC. Is it possible to have a selection process in NX to achieve this? Our global counterparts seem to have something similar they call it part-masking. unfortunately they are in another language. Anyone know of a posting to help me in this topic.

RE: NX Drawing numbers assigned
What exactly are these drawing numbers? Will they be numbers assigned to the components as attributes? Are they part numbers for the drawing files? Or something else?

25D1049CM
25D: would be 19A, 21B, 23C, 25D, or 27E (this relates to the drawing paper size a-b-c-d-e paper size)
1049: would be the major assembly number (we have about 3 dozen major assemblies and a different 3 digit code for each assembly.)
CM: The final two digits are alpha sequential from the last digits taken from that particular major assembly. It would be possible to have 3 dozen "AB" drawings one for each major assembly.
