ErNiCrMo3 Filler rods

ErNiCrMo3 Filler rods

(OP)
Hi,

We have a base material of stainless steel pipe TP347H ASTM A312. The project requirement is asking for using ErNiCrMo3 filler rods.

Is this necessary? What is the purpose of the same when we have 347 filler rods available?

Please reply

Regards
MNT

RE: ErNiCrMo3 Filler rods

Not enough info; however, most 347H is used in a high temperature environment (generally > 1000F) and the selection of ERNiCrMo-3 would not be recommended, especially if service invoves thermal cycling.

RE: ErNiCrMo3 Filler rods

FYI; ERNiCrMo3 = Inconel 625

Not a "bad" choice, but it is a "poor" choice. 347 is an "excellent" choice. Take exception to using 625 on 347-to-347 welds, possibly on an RFI. That will put any resultant problems from using a dissimilar filler onto the Engineer that wrote the specs. Maybe he/she will recognize their suboptinal choice.
