Hi Everyone.

I have a WPQR for
A333-6. (P1-Gr1) welded to A350 LF2. (P1-Gr2)

The application is X65 (P1-Gr2)

From my understanding, the WPQR above qualifies P1-Gr1 to P1-Gr1 / P1-Gr2 to P1-Gr2 / P1-Gr1 to P1-Gr2.

I would like to use this WPQR to weld X65. P1-Gr2. All Essential Variables are the same from WPQR to Production.

However, naturally the tensile test in WPQR has had fracture occur in the A333-6 material. As it obviously weaker than P1-Gr2 materials. The figures have not matched the X65 minimum tensile requirements of 530Mpa.

According to the code Grouping System I can use this WPQR yet I cannot prove the tensile properties of the production joint.

I am of the understanding that this is precisely why ASME have P and Gr numbers, so industry is not forced to carry out tests on every different grade of steel.

My solution is to carry out an all weld tensile test. If it over matches the 530Mpa minmimum tensile strength of the X65 then we are good to go.

Has anybody had this problem before? Let me know what you think.
