PLease advise whether it is necessary to provide hard chromizing of stainless steel ball valves.

Depends on the application!


Hard Chrome Plating is common in ball valves for corrosion resistance.  If you have a abrasive or scaling media look into nickel alloy overlay rather than chrome.

Mighty,

Hard chrome plating stainless steel balls increases the wear resistance only.  Since chrome plating contains small cracks that extend down to the base metal, it does not increase corrosion resistance.

It is often a common practice to do Electroless Nickel Plating of Balls for superios performance.
