Units

Units

(OP)
Dear all,

In my model I choose the units based on "kg--mass, nm--length, s--time",
so other units are
density--kg/nm^3
stress--GPa
conductivity--"10^-18 W/nm K"
specific heat--"10^-18 J/kg K"

Are these consistent?
Thank you!

RE: Units

Since there are 1e9 nanometers in a meter wouldn't the stress be in exaPascals (1e18 Pa)?

Hi DanStro,

Thank you for helping.
Do you mean the force unit is still N? But I think the unit for force is kg*nm/s^2 = 10^-9 N now, so stress unit is 10^-9 N/(nm^2) = 10^9 Pa = GPa, isn't it?

RE: Units

I believe you are correct, sorry.
