Strainers on CW inlet on seal flush coolers

Strainers on CW inlet on seal flush coolers

Strainers on CW inlet on seal flush coolers

(OP)
Hi
We have a poor quality of cooling with debris and other
Things in the cooling water. This causes plugging of the
Conical strainers on the inlet to the seal flush coolers.

Are there any suggestions to try to avoid this in terms of
Strainer designs or other options.

Thanks

RE: Strainers on CW inlet on seal flush coolers

Cyclones or auto back flush filters sound like what you need. This will need a return line to the cooling water outlet. Depends how bad your supply is and what the debris is.

My motto: Learn something new every day

Also: There's usually a good reason why everyone does it that way

planck121,
Are you taking suction from a Cooling Tower Basin?
If so then I suggest you install some Trash Screens between the Basin and the Suction Pits.

prognosis: Lead or Lag

RE: Strainers on CW inlet on seal flush coolers

If you are trying to avoid the clogging of the strainer, change you source of cooling water and use clean water. Just kidding;-
However, there are many ways of pre-cleaning the water, say using a buffer tank for settling the debris or a cyclone separator as mentioned earlier. You might also want to use a duplex strainer with a switching valve for cleaning the clogged side while operating the clean side.

Duplex or Cuno strainer and differential pressure gauge should be pretty cheap.
