Change unit of dimensional tolerance

Change unit of dimensional tolerance

Change unit of dimensional tolerance

(OP)
I am working on conversion drawing, where I need to convert all dimension from inches to mm. To change the unit for dimensions, I have managed by using annotation style. Dimensional tolerance are also changing but those are not correct. Is there is any way so that I can directly change unit of dimensional tolerance instead of doing it manually.

I am working on NX6 platform.

RE: Change unit of dimensional tolerance

I think I know what you're saying, but there is no way to automatically do that since while the numerical values of the dimension have units which you can change, the plus/minus values used in tolerances are not seen as having units just a value which you'll have to change by making specific edits. Granted, an NX Open or even journal could be written to automate this, but there is no built-in function in the software itself to do this.

John, Thanks for your suggestion. I have created a macro to change unit of dimension. I am also applying other values like colors, arrow size, text size etc., as per company standards along with unit change through same macro. Only thing was pending is dimensional tolerance unit is unchanged. At this stage I am little bit ok and my pending work is to change unit for dimensional tolerances.

Moving further I have another concern is , In drawing, few dimension with tolerance and few without tolerance. But while selecting these dimensions, I can’t differentiate these. This results in, it will apply tolerance to all dimensions including those don’t have tolerances previously.

So while creating macro, what I did is, put filter selection for dimension and select all dimensions by crtl+A. And now values are applied under tab lines/arrow, lettering and unit but avoided to go on tab dimension.

Is there is any way to apply selection filter to dimension with and without tolerance by using journals.

RE: Change unit of dimensional tolerance

There is no way, without using some sort of NX Open routine to check whether a tolerance option was set for a particular dimension, to filter, when selecting dimensions, to only select those with or without tolerances.
