Model Dimension Shown in Drawing - Can't Drag Extension Line

Model Dimension Shown in Drawing - Can't Drag Extension Line

Model Dimension Shown in Drawing - Can't Drag Extension Line

(OP)
Using Wildfire 5.0 (a.k.a. Creo/Elements)

I have a revolve feature in my model, and I showed one of the model dimensions in a drawing view. The extension line needs to be "dragged" up to provide the required gap between the extension line and the object line of the part envelope.

However, when I try to grab the little "grip" at the end of the extension line to drag it up, it won't let me move it, it just snaps back to its original position.

Any ideas?

RE: Model Dimension Shown in Drawing - Can't Drag Extension Line

Mark,

Try using the cleanup dimensions right click command which will automatically allow the proper offests to be set.
Maybe try using middle button to accept the pick because I believe you can drag both extension lines but they needed to be CTRL selected and then use middle button to accept your selection.

I am familiar with moving the dimension lines using "cleanup dimensions", but the problem is not with the dimension line, but rather with the extension line where it "connects" to the object lines of the model.

I have an overall part dimension shown from the model and end of the extension lines are located at the part centerline. On one end of the part, I can grab the "grip" of the extension line and pull the end of the extension line up away from the part centerline, but on the other side, it seems to be permanently connected to the part centerline.

RE: Model Dimension Shown in Drawing - Can't Drag Extension Line

If there are many dimensions that share an extension line in that location they may overlap the center line and could be causing the issue. If that's not the case then I'm at a loss.
You can try isolating the problem dimension on it's own layer and hide the rest to be sure that the extension line of the dimension itself is at fault.

Hopefully it's just an overlapping issue and you can move one of the extension lines and hide the others as needed.
