Cant find any Pump Shaft Quality Standard

Cant find any Pump Shaft Quality Standard

Cant find any Pump Shaft Quality Standard

(OP)
Hello All,

I am trying to establish a standard to call out pump shaft stock. In the process I am trying to find a standard that defines the pump shaft quality.

If I specify PSQ in my stock specification, what toleraces on diameter and straightness am I aiming at?

Appreciate any help :)

RE: Cant find any Pump Shaft Quality Standard

ASME has several standards for bar stock of various materials limiting straightness roundness and diameter tolerances.
If calling out something "better" than commercial grades the price can go way up.

Specs for allowable internal flaws aren't very tight.
I can picture during manufacturing removing much material just might expose seams etc that the steel supplier would not be interested in warranteeing.
