Groove weld not following profile

Groove weld not following profile

Groove weld not following profile

(OP)
Hi
I am trying to give groove weld between two parts (part one is with rectangular surface, part 2 is circular face)
But the groove weld created is not following the circular face part profile.
Please see the attached image.

I am using NX8.5

Thanks

can i get any reply?

RE: Groove weld not following profile

Hi,
Typically i go for a user defined Weld if nothing seems to work for me. But you can also use synchronous (may be replace face) commands (after you are done with using the groove weld) to get the desired weld shape at ends. Since the weld body is created seperately so even if you change the shape of this body it clearly reflects in the WELD VOLUME value also. You can validate the same using welding information.

Yes Kapil
I did it using replace face as well as tangent face (synchronous modeling).
But I was expecting it automatically to detect the face profile. not using synchronous modeling.

RE: Groove weld not following profile

Hi Dipak,
I think you can make it match the profile at only one end but not both.(you can try switching off the SAME AS FIRST DEPTH(S1) option in the second depth tab).
I know it may not help you completely but still give it a try.
Best Regards
Kapil
