Mix axisymmeric and plane strain elements?

Mix axisymmeric and plane strain elements?

Mix axisymmeric and plane strain elements?

(OP)
I have been trying to creat a model with a mix of axisymmetir and plane strain elements. Abaqus complains...
Is it possible?

RE: Mix axisymmeric and plane strain elements?

No. Tried this with plane stress elements, following the example of a bolted flange in the Abaqus example manual. CAE wouldn't have it due to a mismatch of dimensionality, or something. The only way to do is to create the assembly using all axisymmetric elements and then manually edit the input deck to change those elements you want to plane strain, or plane stress elements.
