thread330-174124: What is this material?
I have come across an inservice pressure vessel fabricated in germany in the 1970's and the steel grade as per the drawings and material test certificates available is FG47CW. Now we are to perform some rectification in this vessel and i am looking for the equivalent of this material in ASTM Steel Grade.
Hoping to find some help.
The MTC Reads As Below
12mm plates
Yield Strength : 46 min Actual (48.7-50.4) kg/mm2
Ultimate Tensile Strength : 57-74 kg/mm2
C - 0.14
Si - 0.31
Mn - 1.28
P - 0.012
S- 0.012
Cu - 0.53
Ni - 0.64
V - 0.13

RE: FG47CW STEEL
The chemistry indicates it is a microalloyed steel with good weldability, but you cannot PWHT it. Look up ASTM A572.
