Should I weld type 310 ss fittings directly to SA 213 gr T91 .180" wall tube using ERNiCr3 or overlay the attachment areas with ERNiCr3 first. Note that the attachments are fairly small (slip spacers) and need a 1/4" fillet.

We have welded them directly on four coal fired boilers and on two retrofits.

As long as PWHT is being performed it makes no difference to the Grade 91 material.
