What's the modulus of elasticity (or wave speed) of liquid sulphur?
What's the modulus of elasticity (or wave speed) of liquid sulphur?
(OP)
Hi Everyone,
I had came across a similar post a while ago by:
" hacksaw (Mechanical) 25 Jan 03 15:18
the velocity in liquid sulfur is a tough nut to crack, but here is some meaningful data, coutesy of J.K. Olsen
http://www.physics.utah.edu/%7Ejared/aps4c2002.pdf"
"for those without adobe acrobat:
the velocity of sound in sulfur is 1440 m/s at 82 Deg C and 1290 m/s at 155 Deg C with a linear slope between the two points. "
I am taking the available information for my calculation. But I was wondering if anybody still has the above PDF file or another printed source that I can reference to?
Thanks for the great info and help :)

http://ion.chem.usu.edu/~boldyrev/jared.php
the paper you may be referring to is
http://www.physics.utah.edu/~vkozhev/sulfurPRB.pdf
if not then you might try contacting Prof. Olsen directly

Thanx alot, it is exactly what I was looking for ;)
