NX8.5: U-Bend in Mechanical Routing

NX8.5: U-Bend in Mechanical Routing

NX8.5: U-Bend in Mechanical Routing

(OP)
I'm current working using the Mechanical Routing tools in NX 8.5 to model some plumbing layouts and I'm having difficulty inserting a u-bend. I currently have a routing path (with stock assigned) with three lines. I've constrained the inlet/outlet to be parallel to each other and set a distance offset between the centerlines. When I go to Assign Corner, I see the option in the drop-down menu for U-Bend, but when I try to select the corners, or anything at all for that matter, it doesn't accept any selections. I have no selection filters enabled. I've tried every configration I can think of, but nothing works. I have access to some online training classes for the Mechanical Routing tool, but it only covers up to S-Bends and not U-Bends.

The only way I've gotten something to *look* right was when I added two separate 90 degree corners with a 0.001in straight length between the two bends. I'd prefer not to do it this way though as it's sure to cause problems down the road somewhere.

RE: NX8.5: U-Bend in Mechanical Routing

Did you create another line/path between both parallel lines? For U-Bend, you must have corners, not just RCPs. And as far as the documentation is concerned, mech routing is really not covered as it should be.
Anyway, I have attached a movie, that shows, how I have created U-Bend. If you can not see the movie, let me know and I will upload the codec for the movie, too.
I the movie you can see, that when I have only two parallel lines, I can not select anything for U-Bend. But when I add the third lines that connects first two, I have created two corners. And now, when in U-bend, I can select those corners.
Hope, that this helps.
