NCEES Sample Questions and Solutions

NCEES Sample Questions and Solutions

(OP)
I am in the process of preparing for the SE exam. In my search for extra problems to work, I have come across the NCEES 2008 Sample Questions and Solutions. There are (3) books all together, Structural I & II, and Civil. These books have similar questions to the current NCEES 2011 Sample Questions and Solutions and seem like good additional problems to work for practice.

My question is: Does anyone know where I can find the complete errata(s) for these (3) books? I can not find them on the NCEES website and I find only bits and pieces when searching online.

Thank You!

RE: NCEES Sample Questions and Solutions

Jessica,

NCESS has a dedicated book with sample problems for the 16-hour SE exam-- be sure to double check their website.

Thanks MJB, I do have the 16 hour book from NCEES and have worked those problems. I am only looking for extra problems to work, and since the questions in the older books are very similar (and in some cases the same exact problems) I figured it was worth checking out those books as well. I just have to watch the code references in the old books!! :)

RE: NCEES Sample Questions and Solutions

Can't help you with the errata. I always found it on the NCEES website.

I can recommend the sample problem books that Kaplan produces though. I found these problems to be much more complex than the actual test and therefore a good study aide. Also, very good preparation for the essay questions.

RE: NCEES Sample Questions and Solutions

As a reference, I recommend the "Structural Engineering Reference Manual" by Alan Williams. I thought it does a real nice job. Especially if you mark it up for "game day use."

"246 Solved Structural Engineering Problems" (see link below) also was useful to me, but I had an older version which wasn't up to speed with the current codes. That said, the examples and thought processes were very useful to me while preparing.
