Which of the two Saddles shall be sliding one in horizontal Vessels,

(OP)
Hi All,
I would like to ask that what is the criteria of choosing the "Sliding Saddle" that is which one shall be sliding saddle. Can I choose any or it depends upon the process requirement (like inlet nozzle or outlet nozzle location).
thanks
IAK

RE: Which of the two Saddles shall be sliding one in horizontal Vessels,

This is generally a choice/decision that the piping stress group would have significant input on. Ask them.

RE: Which of the two Saddles shall be sliding one in horizontal Vessels,

Typically, the saddle that is the one configured for movement is the one OPPOSITE the one closest to the HX channel.

On the ultra-common TEMA BEM HX, it makes no difference...

RE: Which of the two Saddles shall be sliding one in horizontal Vessels,

Yes like TGS4 says, ask pipe stress guy. You can arbitrarily assign to either one and put a "Hold" or " To be confirmed" in the beginning. Eventually, pipe stress guy shall tell you where they want after they run the stress analysis.

RE: Which of the two Saddles shall be sliding one in horizontal Vessels,

If you are fab. Slot both sides and let the installer choose its side.
