Classification of Backflow Water Treatment Facilities
Classification of Backflow Water Treatment Facilities
(OP)
I work for a small electrical contract company that does custom design and construction of control panels for use primarily in the mining industry. The regulations governing electrical installations used in and around a coal mine are very well known. One of the hazards associated with coal mining is methane, which is released during the coal mining process.
With the rapid growth in the Marcellus Shale drilling, we have been asked to quote on electrical installations for use in the gas industry. One of the first projects we are quoting on pertains to a backflow water treatment plant, where they "clean up" the water/mud slurry that was used to drill and frac natural gas wells to re-use the water. One of the concerns is methane, that is trapped in the water/mud slurry. I am having trouble finding regulations that pertain to electrical installations at these locations. Can anyone shed some light on my problem.
Thanks,
Dave
