How can to select electrode suitable with base metal

(OP)
Hi Friends,
If you have a strange base metal, you only know tensile and chemical composition but you dont know AWS or ASTM Classification. Now, you have to weld this, you dont know the suitable electrode what will you do?

Example, I currenly have ASTM 1566 UNS G15660 but I dont know suitable electrode, pls give me advices. And how about in other cases?

RE: How can to select electrode suitable with base metal

This material has poor weldability because of the high carbon content (0.60 to 0.71 % by mass) and sulfur content (max to 0.050% by mass). I would not recommend welding.

RE: How can to select electrode suitable with base metal

Totally agree with Metengr. Welding this material will create a ton of headaches for you.
