What actually is undrained shear strength of soil???

RE: Undrained shear strength

Without being snitty, why not find an introductory text book and look it up? Or do a search on the net? My first try is always to try to seek it out myself . . .

RE: Undrained shear strength

ya, i have also tried it out but i am not able to finding out them.. may be due to time constraint.. I am asking this in this forum so as to get answers in short time... I have taken this site as my encyclopaedia for any engineering problem... I think this is also the part of seeking over the net...

RE: Undrained shear strength

Here is an interesting site: Found it with "Undrained shear strength of soil" as the key words.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shear_strength_%28soi...

Take a look at the history of that site. It would appear that many a contributor has been involved with its development. There is more info there than many a textbook and a lot more than would come via this forum.

RE: Undrained shear strength

if the application of shearing force exceeds the ability of the soil to dissipate the excess pore pressure, then undrained shear strength parameters are appropriate.
