limiting ruling section for AISI 4130 round bar?

limiting ruling section for AISI 4130 round bar?

limiting ruling section for AISI 4130 round bar?

(OP)
hello everyone.

I just joined this Eng tips.
hope i got some clue for my question. i found some material vendor catalogue mention AISI 4130 has lrs 2" based on API6A and 4" based on NACE MR0175. so far as i look at API6A and NACE MR0175, it doesn't mention about limiting ruling section (lrs) property. then i look for another clue about lrs, starting from jominy test hardenability band, but i got no clue how to link those graph with lrs parameter.

i finally trace lrs originated mention at BS970 standard defined as maximum diameter for which mechanical properties can be obtained and guarantee after quench and temper heat treatment.. it also root to BS5046-1974, but im stuck since i dont have this standard.

i'm really curious about how to find lrs value from specific steel such as 4130. somehow, i think lrs is important property for round bar, but nowadays i found only some mention this value. i dont know if its not popular now or whatever reason. is there someone has some knowledge about determine lrs value?

thank you

yudhi
