Aux Wire in MV Compartment
Aux Wire in MV Compartment
(OP)
I've seen references that indicate that control wire routed through MV compartments should either be in metal conduit or have a metal braided shield. However, I rarely see this done in practice. I see it in CT wiring in MV switchgear but not, for example, thermocouple wire in dry type transformer compartments. Is there an actual requirement for this that is being violated or is it acceptable to run LV control wire through an MV compartment (in particular a dry type transformer compartment with live MV terminals)?

RE: Aux Wire in MV Compartment
Most thermocouple wiring for dry type transformer have some form of additional covering to the temperature control unit. Fan wiring are more varied using cab tire cable to single conductor routed is such a way from physical damage and with panduit wireways versus conduit.
Even CT wiring can simply be switchboard wiring, single conductor, bundled/harness without the use of additional mechanical protection.
