Switching from 2D to 3D in Mechanical Desktop 5.0

Switching from 2D to 3D in Mechanical Desktop 5.0

(OP)
Hi people

I was sent a CAD drawing in 2D with all the dimensions and details. It's like a blueprint. How do turn it to 3D from that 2D drawing?
I'm a little new to 3D modeling and i really can't get it...

 Thanks in advance

RE: Switching from 2D to 3D in Mechanical Desktop 5.0

There's no simple button to press to get your 2D drawing transformed into a 3D model. You'll have to use the 2D prints to remodel it in 3D. Think of it as a learning project. The best way to learn is to do it. Sorry.

RE: Switching from 2D to 3D in Mechanical Desktop 5.0

Sorry, MD5 makes it easy to go from 3D to 2D, but not the other way round. You'll have to model it from scratch; or ask for your 2D drawings to be sent digitally in 3D...

Best of Luck...

First of all, I would like to thank you both for answering.
Second, I'm getting the hang of it and it's not so difficult to model the part in 3D after all, although I'm having a tiny problem extruding a circle though a path. (Hey, don't laugh, I'm serious..)

 Again, thank you both
