Could anyone explain when junction box can be used in the electrical distribution system? Need some examples to understand what is the advantages of using junction boxes. Thank you in advance.

For interior wiring almost all splices, taps, joints and everywhere that the insulation on the conductors is removed must, by code, (in North America) be enclosed by an approved junction box.
Junction boxes must be accessible for service and trouble shooting.
The advantages are safety from shock and fire, protection of the connections, and, if the code calls for a junction box, the AHJ will require that the installation be modified by the installation of a junction box(s).

For pulling long runs of cables around multiple 90 degree bends !
As a marshalling point for cables from dufferent location and the pulling them into a major raceway.
For connecting/converting onr type of conductor into another.
The reasons are many, there are not many resttiction on its use. Proper tyoe for various location/classification and environmental requirements.
Use many or use a few, the trades installing it will let you know pretty quickly if the engineering is good or bad.
